CMF Phone 1
The only CMF phone supported so far, the PC that can run the installer, and how to use that installer.
Compatible phone
The only CMF model supported so far is:
- CMF Phone 1 — model A015
On the phone, open Settings → About phone. The name must be CMF Phone 1 and the model must be A015. No other CMF phone is supported. Do not run this installer on a different model.
This phone does not use the USB audio board in chapter 02. After the installer finishes, pair it with a join code (chapter 04). Do not install VMGateClient from the QR code on this phone. The installer already puts the apps on it.
Which PC
Use a 64-bit Windows PC. The installer does not run on 32-bit Windows.
The PC must have:
- At least 8 GB free on the disk where the program is installed. The phone software is large.
- A USB port and a USB cable that carries data. A charge-only cable will not work.
Windows may ask you to confirm the downloaded program. During the install it may also ask once for administrator approval, to install a USB driver. Allow both. Stay at the PC until the program says it is finished.
Installer — step by step
In the portal, open Management → Client QR Codes and click CMF Users click here. Download the installer and run it on the Windows PC.
The buttons on that window are Start, then Next. Click Next only when you have finished the step the window is showing.
This replaces the software that came on the phone and erases everything stored on the phone.
Menus on the phone
Do these on the phone. The names below are the ones the PC window uses. If the phone is in another language, use the matching item in that language.
- Developer options. Settings → About phone. Tap Build number seven times.
- OEM unlocking. Settings → System → Developer options. Turn on OEM unlocking. If the phone asks you to confirm, confirm it.
- USB debugging. In Developer options, turn on USB debugging. Plug in the cable. When the phone asks, tap Allow.
Click Next on the PC after each of those steps.
On the PC
- Phone images. Click Next. The program downloads the phone software. This can take several minutes. Leave the cable connected.
- Reboot to bootloader. Click Next. The program reboots the phone. Leave the cable connected.
- USB driver. Windows may ask for administrator once. Allow it. When the phone shows the fastboot screen, click Next again.
- Flash. Click Next. The window shows each part as it is written.
FastbootD and the reboots
While the program is writing, the phone reboots more than once. That is normal. The program is doing those reboots. Do not try to stop them.
One of those screens is a menu titled FastbootD. Do not select anything on that menu. Do not press the volume keys or the power key. Leave the phone alone and let the program finish.
Do not interrupt the program. Do not close it. Do not unplug the cable.
Wait until the window says flashing is complete and the phone is rebooting. Then click Close and continue with chapter 04.
